Air Quality Index: Odisha’s Barbil more polluted than Delhi & Mumbai

Bhubaneswar: The air quality at Odisha’s Barbil town was declared as very poor by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) today.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) value at Barbil town in Keonjhar district was 304 today, said the CPCB.

As per the CPCB data, the air pollution at Barbil was more alarming than that of metro cities like Delhi and Mumbai. The AQI value was 178 at Delhi and 95 at Mumbai today, said the CPCB.

The air quality at Keonjhar and Nayagarh in Odisha was categorized as poor by the CPCB. The AQI value was 228 at Keonjhar and 275 at Nayagarh today.

Prolonged exposure to very poor quality air may cause respiratory illness among the people. Similarly, people may develop breathing discomfort due to prolonged exposure to poor quality air, said the CPCB.
