The airline’s maiden flight from New Delhi to Bengaluru was operated on an Airbus A320 aircraft with code VT-JRT titled ‘The Pioneer’ and carried 180 passengers on board.

“Offering greater connectivity and convenience is a key part of our strategy as we continue to grow our business, and new destinations like Delhi, Guwahati and Vizag further strengthens our route network,” said Mittu Chandliya, chief executive of AirAsia India.

According to Chandliya, the company’s low-cost operating model will triumph in a highly competitive market like Delhi.

In conjunction to the maiden flight celebration, AirAsia India also announced the addition of its newest route from Bengaluru to Vishakapatnam and vice versa.

“We have set an aggressive target for this year and after complete analysis, we decided to add the Benguluru-Vishakapatnam sector,” Chandliya added.

The airline launched the new route between Benguluru-Vishakapatnam at an all-inclusive fare which is as low as Rs.1,400 one way.

The airline added that tickets under the promotional offer can be booked between May 21 and May 24, 2015, for the travel period between June 18 this year to May 31 2016. (IANS)
