Bhubaneswar: All educational institutions across Odisha will remain closed on July 8 for the world-famous Ratha Jatra of Lord Jagannath in Puri.

As per the order, all government and private schools, colleges and universities will be closed on July 8 (Monday) on the auspicious occasion of Ratha Jatra.

Earlier, the state government had announced a two-day holiday -- July 7 and 8 -- for all offices, banks and courts for the Ratha Jatra scheduled on July 7 (Sunday).

As the chariot-pulling ritual will be held for two days this year at the annual Ratha Jatra of Lord Jagannath, the government declared July 8 as a holiday for all sectors.
