All religious institutions in Odisha capital to remain closed for devotees

Bhubaneswar:  Keeping in view the steep hike in COVID-19 cases in the state capital, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today decided to close all religious institutions for devotees until further orders.

However, daily rituals at the religious place will continue as usual sans devotees.

BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said, “We took the decision after consulting management committees of different religious bodies. No devotee will be allowed inside temples, mosques and other religious institutions for the time  being. The restriction will be relaxed once the situation improves.”

Today, Khordha district reported 820 positive cases, highest in the state. Yesterday, Bhubaneswar (BMC area) reported 468 out of the total 587 cases recorded in Khordha district.
