All schools in Delhi to remain closed due to air pollution

New Delhi: All schools in Delhi will remain closed due to air pollution till further notice, an order from Delhi School Education Department released today.

“The Environment Department has directed to close all the schools with immediate effect till further orders of the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and adjoining areas. Therefore, all government and private schools will remain closed till further orders,” Additional Director of Education Rita Sharma said.

However, online classes and board examinations will be conducted as per guidelines issued earlier.

In view of high levels of air pollution in the national capital, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had on November 13 announced that schools and offices will stay closed for a week starting from November 14.

As the air quality in Delhi continues to drop over a past few weeks, the Government decided to extend the closure of schools till further orders.
