All set for Jaga-Kalia’s return to Odisha

Cuttack: The SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack has made all arrangements for the treatment of separated conjoined twins, Jaga and Kalia, who are scheduled to leave for Odisha from AIIMS, Delhi tomorrow.

The SCB has formed a six-member team of doctors led by the Neurosurgery Professor to provide treatment to the separated conjoined twins. The hospital has also kept a two-bed ICU cabin ready for Jaga and Kalia.

“All necessary steps will be taken to provide treatment to Jaga and Kalia. If need be, doctors from other departments will be included in the team,” said CBK Mohanty, Superintendent, SCB Medical College and Hospital.

Meanwhile, a two-member team of doctors of the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, today reached the AIIMS, New Delhi to hold discussions with the authorities for the return of the separated conjoined twins.

As per reports, Dr Bibhuprasad Naik and Dr Shiba Shankar of the SCB arrived in the AIIMS and enquired about the conditions of the separated conjoined twins. Both the doctors will also accompany Jaga and Kalia during their journey in New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express tomorrow.

Worth mentioning, the craniopagus conjoined twins hailing from Milipada village in Kandhamal district were separated by a team of doctors after a 21-hour marathon surgery in October, 2017 in AIIMS, New Delhi.
