Ambedkar Jayanti: Odisha CM pays tribute to architect of Indian Constitution

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today paid homage to the chief architect of Constitution of India and Bharat Ratna Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar on his 128th birth anniversary.

He referred Ambedkar as the ‘champion of social justice’.

Taking to microblogging site Twitter, he wrote,

Worth mentioning, entire nation is paying rich tributes to Ambedkar, who is commonly known as Babasaheb, to remember his contribution in building India after Independence.

President Ram Nath Kovind paid floral tributes at the statue of Ambedkar at the Parliament House Lawns in New Delhi this morning.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and union ministers were among the dignitaries who also paid tributes to Ambedkar inside the Parliament House.

Ambedkar is remembered for his triumphant struggle against age-old social discrimination against Dalits, women and labour classes. He was the social reformer, economist and jurist. He was the force behind the Dalit Buddhist Movement in India.
