Amit Shah cancels Odisha visit after Pulwama terror attack

Bhubaneswar: BJP national president Amit Shah canceled his today’s programme in Odisha following massive terror strike in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pulwama district in which over 40 CRPF jawans were martyred.

Strongly reacting to the terror attack by the terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed, Shah termed it as an act of cowardice. He expressed grief over the death of brave soldiers in the incident.

“My deepest condolences are with the families of our soldiers who have lost their lives. Our forces will remain firm against such acts of terror and defeat them,” Shah wrote on Twitter.

Shah was scheduled to visit Odisha today to attend a public meeting in Sambalpur. With the terrorists stormed Jammu & Kashmir once again, the BJP chief canceled all his political assignments including his visit to Odisha.

Nearly 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and many others were injured when terrorists targeted a convoy with a car bomb at Awantipora on Thursday. It could be termed as the worst attack ever on the security personnel in Jammu & Kashmir as well as in the country after 2016 Pathankot attack. Among 40, two jawans from Odisha were martyred in the terror strike.

According to reports, the terrorists used the Mahindra Scorpio carrying more than 350 kg of explosives and triggered the car bomb while 78 vehicles with over 2,500 CRPF personnel were on the Srinagar-Jammu highway.

The Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed has claimed responsibility for the attack.
