Amit Shah thanks karyakartas, people of Odisha for success in Panchayat polls

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is outwardly buoyed by the trend in the initial two phases of the five-phase Panchayat polls in Odisha.

A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked people of Odisha for the unprecedented support to the party in the ongoing three-tier polls in the state, BJP National President Amit Shah also echoed similar sentiments today during an election rally in Uttar Pradesh.

“I thank all the karyakartas for the unprecedented success in Panchayat polls in Odisha and praise the people of Odisha for their confidence in BJP,” Amit Shah said.

The national president said this while addressing a rally in UP, a day ahead of the the conclusion of campaigning for the third phase of assembly elections on February 19.

Shah was scheduled to address political rallies at Kousambi, Pratapgarh and Amethi today.

It may be mentioned here that the the trend in the first phase election indicated that BJD won 103, BJP 71 seats and Congress 10 of the 188 seats of the Zilla Parishad elections held on Monday.

However, in the second phase polls the trend suggested BJD of winning 97 ZP seats, BJP capturing 58 posts and Congress maintaining its third position with 16 seats at 175 zones polled across the state on Wednesday.

In the last Panchayat poll, the BJD had won 656, Congress 126 and BJP had won a mere 36 seats of the total 854 Zilla Parishad seats.
