Kotia: With no end in sight to the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border row, the neighbouring state has been making encroachment bids in different ways time and again. In this spree, some workers from Andhra conducted a health camp again in Pottangi block of Odisha’s Koraput district, today.

According to a source, a medical team from Salur Mandal of Andhra took the residents of some villages of Kotia panchayat to Phatuseneri by vehicles and held the health check-up camp, which was conducted under a scheme of the neighbouring government named ‘Jagananna Arogya Suraksha’.

Vice-chairman of Salur Mandal Suresh Reddy, local administrative official G Parvathi, some doctors and medical workers took part in the programme and provided healthcare services.

A similar attempt was made on October 14 and a health programme was held in Galigabadar village of Nuagaon panchayat under the block in Koraput. After being tipped off about it by some locals, the block chairperson Kalpana Pangi had reached the spot. She saw them conducting health check-ups and got irritated. Pangi had indulged in an altercation with the health workers of the neighbouring state.

Pangi had strongly opposed the medical team, following which the AP workers left the block. When Pangi warned the health workers asking them to vacate the village, they went away in a hurry.

“They are infiltrating into Odisha as 2024 General Elections are approaching,” some locals alleged.
