Annual ‘Adivasi Mela’ kicks off in city

The popular Adivasi Mela which begins on the Republic Day every year kicked off  on Sunday.Adivasi Mela

Chief minister Naveen Patnaik  formally inaugurated the annual state level Adivasi Mela at Adivasi Padia in Unit-I area on Sunday evening.

A total of 12 tribal groups would showcase their art and craft during the 15-day long Mela which would be conclude on February 9.

The tribal artists from across the state would present traditional dances, songs, drama in the evening everyday at the Mela.

A total of 175 stalls have come up at the Mela. While 29 stalls showcase  the village clusters , the way of living of the tribals, their household articles and livelihood patterns, 32 stalls will sell a variety of forest and agricultural produce.

Elaborate security arrangement has been made at the exhibition venue with the erection of two watch towers and installation of 16 CCTV cameras.
