Anonymous letter to Odisha CM claims threat to his life

Bhubaneswar: An anonymous letter has been received at Naveen Niwas, the residence of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in Bhubaneswar mentioning about a conspiracy to kill him. The handwritten letter stated some contract killers have been hired to murder the Odisha Chief Minister. They have been equipped with latest weapons like AK-47 and semi-automatic pistols.

Citing that the mastermind of the possible attack on Patnaik lives in Nagpur, the letter mentioned about a vehicle number registered with Maharashtra State. Also, the anonymous letter mentioned about 17 vehicle registration number saying that those vehicles are being used by the contract killers who have conspired to kill the Odisha Chief Minister.

Meanwhile, the State functionaries have been put on high alert after the letter was received at the CM’s residence.

In a letter, Special Secretary of Home Department, Santosh Bala asked the DGP, Intelligence Director and the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner to enquire the matter thoroughly and take appropriate action as deemed proper. The letter further stated the Home Department should be informed on what steps have been taken in this regard.

“The security of the Chief Minister may be assessed and tightened at his residence, Secretariat as well as during journey to various places and functions if required,” the letter read.
