Another 100-bedded COVID Hospital in Odisha’s Balasore soon

Balasore: Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy today visited Balasore district and reviewed the Covid-19 management there. The official directed to set up another 100-bedded COVID Hospital at an isolated place inside the district headquarters hospital soon.

The healthcare facility will have ICU and OT for Covid patients. The Chief Secretary said the funds for this hospital would be provided from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Four new ICUs will also be set up in the existing Jyoti Covid hospital at Balasore.

Further, he directed to launch Jana Sampark Campaign involving the people’s leaders, community based organizations, resident welfare associations and health personnel from coming Monday with intensive efforts for identifying the vulnerable people and the persons with co-morbidity.

After the review and field inspection, Tripathy said, “So far Covid management in the district has been satisfactory. The mortality rate has been kept limited within 0.3 percent which is lower than many other districts”.

He complimented the dedicated efforts of the district administration, police and treating physicians along with health personnel engaged in COVID management tasks.

Looking into the functioning of dedicated Covid call center set up at district headquarters hospital for connecting the positive cases, the Chief Secretary directed to attach it with 24×7 ambulance services especially during night hours. He also directed to make definite arrangements for communicating Covid test results to the respective individuals over phone.

Collector and SP of the district were advised to scale up the awareness among the people.
