Another 163 contracted COVID-19 in Bhubaneswar; Here’re details

Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 tally in Bhubaneswar is inching towards the 2000-mark with 163 new positive cases reported in the city in the last 24 hours.

Of the fresh 163 COVID cases, 104 cases have been detected from quarantine centres and 59 are local contacts, informed Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today.

Among all the quarantine cases, 18 cases have been reported from two slums located under Nayapalli and Unit-1 areas in Bhubaneswar.

Similarly, 11 persons from Pandara near Hi-Tech Medical College staying in different quarantine centres have been found positive for COVID-19. They all are male and linked with an earlier positive case.

As per the BMC report, 7 more cases linked with a previous positive case have been detected from Unit-4 area near fish market and another 8 cases linked with an earlier positive case have been reported from Unit-3, Kharavela Nagar area.

Here’s update on newly detected cases shared by the BMC:

With over 160 fresh cases in the last 24 hours in Bhubaneswar, the tally in the city rose to 1991 with 1069 active cases and 909 recoveries. The virus has claimed 12 lives so far with one more death due to COVID-19 reported today.
