Another 18 COVID warriors test positive in Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur: Another 18 personnel from different departments on COVID duty have tested positive for the deadly virus in Ganjam district, informed Ganjam Collector today.

Ganjam district reported the highest number of 58 new COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours, of which 18 are COVID warriors and 39 are local contacts. The remaining one positive case has a travel history to  Gujarat.

The COVID warriors included 2 from Sheragada, 7 from Rangeilunda, 1 from Sanakhemundi, 1 from Polasara, 1 from Kukudahandi, 1 from Buguda, 1 from Bhanjanagar, 2 from Aska, 1 from Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) and 1 from Purusottampur, Ganjam district administration said.

This apart, 39 cases are local contacts that included 2 from Aska, 5 from BeMC, 1 from Chatrapur, 3 from KS Nagar, 1 from Khalikote, 10 from Beguniapada, 1 from Kukudahandi, 2 from Purusottampur, 4 from Hinjilicut, 1 from Buguda, 5 from Polasara, 3 from Sheragada and 1 from Rangeilunda areas of the red zone district.

One positive case with travel history to Surat hails from Purusottampur area in Ganjam district.

Today, one COVID-19 patient under treatment succumbed to the disease in the district, informed State Health & Family Welfare Department.

The deceased person is a 68-year-old male. He was suffering from comorbid conditions of Hypertension and Diabetes, the Department said.

With fresh cases, the COVID-19 tally in the district rose to 1195 with 375 active cases. While the number of recovered cases stands at 811, 9 patients succumbed to the deadly virus so far.
