Another BJB College student alleges ragging by hostel inmates

Bhubaneswar: Less than a week after a girl student of the BJB Autonomous College died by suicide allegedly due to ragging by seniors, another student of the premier educational institution brought ragging allegation against hostel inmates here today.

The victim has been identified as Rudra Narayan Patra, a +2 second year student (Commerce stream) of BJB Junior College.

He alleged that his hostel inmates were ragging in front of faculties, who did not pay heed to the harassment.

In this regard, the student lodged a written complaint at the Badagada Police Station in Bhubaneswar.

However, no action has been initiated by the police so far despite the complaint, he alleged.

On July 2, a girl student of the BJB College ended her life after she was allegedly harassed by her seniors at a ladies hostel on premises of the college. In a suicide note, she also mentioned about ragging by three students. Currently, the matter is under investigation.

After BJB College student suicide case, ragging incidents have come to fore from major educational institutions in Bhubaneswar.

Recently, a student of College of Basic Science and Humanities had alleged that his seniors assaulted him for refusing to pay them money for purchase of alcohol.
