Another cadaveric kidney transplant conducted at Odisha’s SCB hosp

Cuttack: The third cadaveric kidney transplantation in Odisha was successfully conducted at the SCB Medical College and Hospital here today.

According to reports, Rajalaxmi Das, a 45-year-old woman of Delanga area in Puri district, was admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar after she sustained critical injuries in a road mishap on March 2. She was declared ‘brain dead’ by doctors while undergoing treatment.

As the family members of the deceased consented for donation of organs of the woman, it was decided that her two kidneys will be transplanted on Rita Rani Mohanty of Mayurbhanj and Ratnakar Mohanty of Kamakhyanagar. The two patients are currently undergoing treatment at the SCB Hospital.

The maiden cadaveric kidney transplant in the state was conducted at the hospital on February 4. Later on February 27, another such operation was carried out at two private hospitals in Bhubaneswar.
