Another farmer commits suicide in Odisha over crop loss

Bolangir: In a fresh incident of farmer suicide in Odisha, a 40-year-old man committed suicide due to crop loss and debt burden at Kuliadar village under Turekela block in Bolangir district.

The deceased identified as Bhagat Sagria had consumed pesticide yesterday morning and was admitted to hospital in Kantabanjhi. However, he succumbed while undergoing treatment at the hospital this morning.

The family members of the deceased said Bhagat had borrowed money from private moneylenders for cultivation on his 20 acres land. However, crop loss and loan burden forced him to take the extreme step, said the elder brother of the deceased.
