Another jumbo found dead in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Koida: Another jumbo was found dead in a forest in Odisha’s Sundargarh district. Initially, locals spotted the body of the male elephant near Araghat village under Koida forest range of the district on Monday.

After Forest personnel being informed, a team of senior officials along with a veterinarian reached the spot. They estimated the age of the male elephant to be around 12 years old.

Locals raised their concerns over the male elephant death as it was second such instance in a span of eight days. On September 13, a female elephant was spotted dead in Medhamaruni reserve forest in the district. Reason behind the death of the female elephant is yet to be made public.

A forest official said as the deaths are suspected to be due to Anthrax disease, blood samples of the male elephant have been sent for tests.
