Odisha police on Saturday buried unclaimed bodies of 12 unidentified persons killed during its joint offensive with Andhra Pradesh’s Greyhound commandos against Maoists in Bhejing forest under Panasput gram panchayat in Malkangiri district on October 24.

While police had handed over 14 bodies to their family members by Friday, it handed over bodies of two slain Maoists to the Andhra Pradesh police today since their family members were yet to reach Malkangiri to receive the bodies, reports said.

Notably, bodies of 28 Maoists were brought to Malkangiri after they were killed in a gun battle with security forces which also left a Greyhounds commando dead in Bhejing forest under Panasput gram panchayat in the cut-off area of Chitrakonda in Malkangiri district on October 24.
