Apara Ekadashi is a fasting day observed on the ‘ekadashi’ of the Krishna Paksha in the Hindu month of ‘Jyeshtha’.
The vrat is dedicated to worshipping Lord Vishnu.
Apara Ekadashi 2022 Date: May 26, Thursday.
Ekadashi Tithi Begins: May 25, 2022 10:32 AM.
Ekadashi Tithi Ends: May 26, 2022 10:54 AM.
Fast Breaking Time: May 27, 5:45 AM – May 27, 8:25 AM.
Rituals: The vrat observer wakes up early in the morning and takes bath. Devotees offer Tulsi leaves, flowers, dhoop and lamp to Lord Vishnu. Sweets are prepared for this occasion and offered to the Lord.
They also recite Apara Ekadashi vrat katha. ‘Aarti’ is then performed and the ‘Prasad’ is distributed among other devotees.
Devotees keep strict fast on this day. Those who are unable to keep complete fast can observe partial fast by eating fruits. The fasting ends on sunrise of ‘dwadashi’.
Applying oil on body is not allowed for the vrat observers.
Reciting ‘Vishnu Sahasranama’ on this day is considered to be auspicious.
