Bhubaneswar: A day after Congress MLA Santosh Singh Saluja's son Seji Singh was arrested for his alleged involvement in a brawl with security personnel at a theatre in Belpada and subsequent seizure of Rs 19 lakh cash and liquor from his gym by Balangir police, the legislator alleged that it was a deliberate attempt to distract the public.
Referring to the shocking murder of Minister Naba Das in broad daylight and police still struggling to get to the bottom of the case, Saluja said the framing of serious charges against his son was intentional as the incident was nothing major and this was only because the cinema hall management had a partnership with a Police DG.
According to reports, some people had created a ruckus inside Alishan Cinema Hall at Kantabanji a few days back. Seji reportedly was present at the spot and got into an altercation with police personnel when the latter tried to pacify the situation. He was later arrested after a video of the incident went viral on social media and booked under sections 384, 506 and 353 of the IPC and various sections of the Arms Act. Sources said that no weapon has been seized from his possession so far.
Seji was produced in court today and remanded in judicial custody after his bail plea was rejected today.
