Art students ramp up creativity with product design show in Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: Giving creativity a strategical insight, Komal Patel has designed advertisement samples for her brand Aireena, a room freshener. They are on display at the ongoing exhibition Kalpana, an imagination’, at Lalit Kala Akademi in Odisha capital.

Also with hers are exhibits of 10 other students of the applied art department of B K College of Art and Crafts. Twenty-year-old Susanta Mohanty, who has designed a waterproof ball pen, said, “I have designed it keeping in mind the struggles of youngsters when water spills on important documents.”Other products whose ad designs are on display include home-theatre by Dinesh, glue by Mahendra, troller bag by Pritha, noodles by Saswati, tea by Priyanka, detergent powder by Deepanjali, digital camera by Biswajit, heavy-duty tyre by Debasish, and emergency lamp by Prashad.

These are samples of product advertisements one sees on posters, hoardings, promo-films, webpage, danglers, kiosks, folders, calenders, business cards, lolly and labels.

Komal said it has been an interesting task bringing out ideas and innovations in advertising with the event co-ordinator and department head, Gajendra Kumar Padhi.

Gajendra said these exhibitions and projects give students ample opportunities and a wider perspective on how market functions. “This is a medium through which students can experience the promotional parameters of a newly-launched product,” he added.

The exhibition started yesterday and will draw to a close on March 16.
