ASHA worker, hubby found hanging in Odisha’s Kandhamal

G Udayagiri: In a shocking incident, a couple of Paburia panchayat under Tikabali block in Kandhamal district of Odisha was found hanging from a tree near a hillock today.

The deceased have been identified as Manoranjan Nayak (47) and his wife Smitanjali Nayak (38), police said.

Manoranjan was working as a Gaon Sathi while Smitanjali was an ASHA worker. They have two sons and a daughter.

The deceased couple’s elder son is in Plus III final year while their daughter is studying in first year in a college in Nayagarh district. Their younger son is in Class IV, sources said.

On being informed by the villagers, Sarangada police reached the spot and sent the bodies for postmortem. The police have begun a probe into the incident after registering a case in this regard.
