ASHA worker Saraswati felicitated by Odisha govt

ASHA worker  Saraswati Parida  felicitated for saving lives of hundreds of malaria affected patients in Harichandanpur block in Keonjhar district of Odisha on State Malaria day on Monday.

Odisha health and family welfare department director Dr Chittaranjan Nayak honoured her with a shield and a certificate, yesterday in Keonjhar.

The state level programme was held in Keonjhar among others Dr Madanmohan Pradhan, District magistrate, N Tirumala Nayak, additional district magistrate Sangram Keshari Swain, SDMO Dr Kabindra Prasad Sahu and ADMO Sudhanshu Sekhar Bal were present.

It might be noted that Saraswati, who is the ASHA worker for Khajuribani, Khandamara, Borapada villages with around 200 homes, with 1200 residents.

In 2015, 594 persons in these three villages were suffering from fever. She tested 594 persons in one year suffering from fever and was instrumental in saving the lives of 368 who tested positive and bringing them back to health.

The ASHA worker  was always been available for the sick, even paying for medicines from her own salary.

Her efforts did not go waste as she succeeded in saving all the lives. She was awarded by the district administration for identifying the highest number of malaria cases in Keonjhar and was given Rs 27,000 as an encouragement award .
