Puri: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) team today began examining the Garbha Gruha (sanctum sanctorum) of Sri Mandir here.
The team of experts from Central Institute of Mining & Fuel Research and Central Building Research Institute started the process after the Lords departed to Gundicha temple on chariots during nine-day Ratha Jatra.
After inspecting the sanctum sanctorum inside the shrine, the ASI team members will hold a review meeting at Guest House of Works department in the afternoon.
According to reports, the repair work of the affected parts of the shrine will be made after preparing a detailed report about the structural condition of the temple.
The move to inspect the sanctum sanctorum and condition of Jagamohan of the centuries old Jagannath temple came at a meeting held on July 4.
The ASI will complete the repair work sanctum sanctorum in nine days by July 23 during Ratha Jatra.
