ASI lands in Vigilance net

The accused police official was caught red-handed while accepting bribe

Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths arrested the Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Balipatana police station within Twin City  Commissionerate Police limits on the charge of bribery here today.

The accused Puspalata Behera was reportedly caught red-handed by the anti-corruption bureau officials at her official residence at around 11 am while accepting `5000 bribe from a complainant for not registering a case.

An eight-member team including Vigilance DSP Amita Tripathy and Inspector Madan Mohan Pradhan carried out the raid.

The entire bribe money has been recovered and the hand wash has confirmed her involvement, an official said.

The accused was taken to the Vigilance office at Surya Nagar and  later produced before court.
