ASI to inspect Sri Mandir Garbha Gruha tomorrow

Puri: Archaeological Survey of India (ASI)’s Technical Core Committee will inspect the condition of the Garbha Gruha (sanctum sanctorum) of the 12th-century shrine Sri Jagannath Temple (Sri Mandir) in Odisha’s pilgrim town Puri.

ASI’s Technical Core Committee chief NC Pal today told reporters that the Committee along with ASI’s Director (Monument) and officials of the Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) will inspect the Garbha Gruha of the Sri Mandir.

The officials will also examine the condition of the Nata Mandap (The Dancing or Entertainment Hall), Pal added.

It may be recalled here that Gajapati Maharaj Dibya Singha Deb in his recent interviews to various television news channels and newspapers had expressed his anguish over the condition of the Nata Mandap.
