Bhubaneswar: Exit Poll surveys by different agencies have predicted neck and neck fight between the ruling BJD and Opposition BJP in the 2024 Assembly polls in Odisha.

An Exit Poll survey by the India Today-Axis My India has predicted 62-80 Assembly seats in the state for both BJD and BJP while the Congress party is likely to get 5-8 seats.

As per the Exit Poll prediction, both the BJD and BJP may get 42 per cent votes each in the Assembly polls in the state while the Congress party is likely to get 12 per cent votes.

However, an Exit Poll survey by the Jan Ki Baat has projected that the BJD may win 81 Assembly seats in the state while the BJP may get 58 and the Congress party 8 seats.

The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) had won 112 Assembly seats of the total 147 in 2019. The BJP managed to get 22 seats while the Congress party came victorious in nine seats.

All 147 Assembly seats in Odisha went for polls in four phases on May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1.

The counting of votes for all the Assembly seats will be done on June 4.

BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and several senior leaders of his party including Prasanna Acharya, Debi Prasad Mishra, Ranendra Pratap Swain, Pradip Amat, Niranjan Pujari, Bikram Arukha, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Pratap Deb, Ashok Panda and Pramila Mallik are in the fray in the Assembly polls in the state.

BJP Odisha unit president Manmohan Samal, former BJP MP Suresh Pujari, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Sarat Pattanayak and senior Congress leaders Niranjan Patnaik, Jaydev Jena, Bhakta Charan Das and Tara Prasad Bahinipati are also trying their luck in the Assembly polls in Odisha.
