Assign DCP rank officer to probe Bhubaneswar minor girl gang rape: Odisha HC to State

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court today directed the Odisha government to probe the Bhubaneswar minor girl gang rape case under the supervision of senior police officer.

Hearing a PIL filed in the Orissa High Court, a division bench comprising Chief Justice of the HC, Justice Mohammad Rafiq and Justice BR Sarangi directed the government to carry out investigation into the minor girl gang rape case under direct supervision of a DCP rank officer.

Also, the HC bench asked the government to submit a fresh report on the progress of probe into the case prior to the next hearing. The court fixed the next hearing of the PIL on October 12.

As the court asked the State government to submit a report on the first day of its hearing on September 28, a report on the progress of the investigation was presented in the court today.

It is worth to be mentioned that the PIL was filed by Advocate Gautam Siddique seeking a probe into the minor girl gang rape case by either CBI or a retired HC Judge.
