Assistant Engineer in Odisha Vigilance net; 28 plots unearthed so far

Nimapada (Puri): An assistant engineer of Rural Development Department in Puri district landed in Vigilance net for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known source of income.

The Vigilance sleuths raided office and residences of Dusmanta Dehury, the Assistant Engineer, RD, Nimapada, and unearthed properties including 28 plots, bank and insurance deposits worth over Rs.47.65 lakh from his possession.

So far, the anti-corruption wing the State Government uncovered 28 plots (7 in prime area in Bhubaneswar and 21 in Dhenkanal) valued over Rs 1.45 crore, Rs 1.58 lakh cash, one triple-storey building at Chandrasekharpur area in Bhubaneswar, two single-storey buildings in Dhenkanal town, one single-storey building at Gunadei village in Dhenkanal, one car (Mahindra Renault Logan) bearing Regd No. OR21-D-0006 worth Rs 11 lakh and 2 two wheelers during searches.

Till the last report came in, the searches were underway.

Vigilance sources said that the market value of plots belonging to the assistant engineer is likely to be much higher. The vigilance technical wing is carrying out detailed measurement and assessment of the above buildings.
