Cuttack: An Assistant Engineer of Sadar block in Odisha's Cuttack district has come under Vigilance scanner in a disproportionate assets case with searches being carried out in his properties here today.

The accused official was identified as Bikash Chandra Bhuyan. Odisha Vigilance raided various locations including his residence, native village and office on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack after allegations of him amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income came to the fore.

Until reports last came in, the following places were raided by 3 teams of Odisha Vigilance comprising 3DSPs, 4 Inspectors, and other staff:

1.Residential house located at Soubhagya Nagar, Bhubaneswar.

2.House at native village at Lehenga in Cuttack

3. House of relative at Chakeisihani, Bhubaneswar.

4.Office chamber at Sadar Block, Cuttack.

Assets detected include one  multi storey building, 7 plots in Bhubaneswar & Cuttack, gold & silver jewellery worth Rs.38 lakh, Rs.1 Crore spent on engineering and medical education of two children, Rs 1.23 lakh investment in crypto currency,  Rs 12.62 lakh worth bank deposits, 1 four wheeler along with three two-wheelers worth Rs 13.40 lakh.

The measurement and valuation/assessment of the above building/plots is being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing.
