ATM cash crunch: BJD stages ‘peaceful protest’ before banks in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Workers of the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today staged a two-hour ‘peaceful protest’ before the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) here and other nationalised banks in sub-divisions and blocks across Odisha against the alleged unavailability of cash in ATMs.

Holding placards and banners, activists of Biju Yuva Janata Dal and Biju Chhatra Janata Dal staged sit-in before the RBI and many nationalised banks from 10 am to 12 pm.

However, operations in the banks were not be affected due to the protest.

Party’s General Secretary Sanjay Das Burma said the main purpose behind the protest is to create awareness among people about the callousness of the Central Government. The BJD leader further said that people in the state have been facing difficulty as most of the ATMs are running out of cash for the last few days.
