Puri:  With less than a month left for the world famous Ratha Jatra, the Odisha police today reviewed security arrangements for the pilgrim town to ensure smooth conduct of the annual extravaganza.

After a review meeting held at the office of Puri SP, DGP RP Sharma said personnel of Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS), Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Swift Action Force (SAF) will be deployed in the town during Ratha Jatra.

“Three units of ATS, two companies from RAF and three from SAF will be deployed in Puri during the annual festival. Besides, 155 platoon forces will be pressed into service for the same,” said Sharma

CCTV cameras will be installed at various locations to keep a tab on ant-socials during the festival beginning July 4.

The DGP assigned ADG Sanjeeb Panda to take charge of law and order during Ratha Jatra, while IG of Special Armed Police (SAP) Amitabh Thakur duties has been given charge of traffic regulation. Inspector General of Police (Central Range) Soumendra Priyadarshi will be the security in-charge of Srimandir during the time.
