Audit officer held with unaccounted cash in Odisha

Jeypore: A government official fell into the Vigilance net here today for possessing a huge amount of unaccounted cash.

The accused was identified as Artabandhu Rout, the Assistant Audit Officer of the ST/SC Development department.

The Vigilance officials recovered Rs 7.29 lakh cash from his possession while he was traveling on a bus.

Following recovery of the huge amount from the official, a team of Vigilance department conducted a raid at his residence at Padana under Niali police limits in Cuttack district.

According to reports, the Vigilance sleuths intercepted the accused near Jeypore while he was on his way back in a bus after conducting an audit of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) in Malkangari.

He was detained with unaccounted cash for interrogation.
