Autism Medical Board to be set up in Odisha districts

In a bid to estimate the number of autism patients and provide them necessary certificates, Odisha government has decided to set up Autism Medical Board in every districts.

The directive has been issued to all the Collectors by Odisha Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Principal Secretary Niten Chandra.

The National Trust for the Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has suggested the Odisha government to expedite the autism drive in the State.

Notably, the District Autism Board will comprise professional doctors, Psychiatrists, Pediatrics, MBBS doctors, Clinical Psychologists as members.

Initiative has been taken to provide them training in March, said Chandra.
