Bhubaneswar: Here is good news for people of Odisha as they can avail land patta within hours from the New Year.

As per decision by the State government, a landowner can get land Records of Rights (RoR) within 3 days (72 hours) from the date of application without complications.

In case of undisputed single landholding, the mutation case can be settled when the RoR will be issued to the applicant within 3 days from the date of application.

However, in case of the land with multiple ownerships, the patta can be availed within 90 days of application.

The new system will be implemented from January 2019 to stop the officials and brokers from harassing the land buyers.

In this regard, the State Revenue & Disaster Management Principal Secretary Chandrasekhar Kumar directed all the collectors for proper implementation to check corruption in land sale and purchase.

According to reports, In case of land having multiple ownerships, the verification process for providing land patta to the applicant will be completed by 10 days out of 90 days. The concerned revenue inspector (RI) will take 30 days for spot verification. The tehsildar will release the final order within five days. For record correction, the record keeper will take 10 days. For an appeal, it will take 30 days and patta will be issued to the applicant in five days.

The NIC has been assigned to update the software accordingly to send an alert message to the applicant after deadline with updated land related information on the portal.

Besides, the government is planning to implement a stringent rule so that the mutation applications cannot be rejected, informed Chandrasekhar Kumar.

Official sources said that with the execution of the rule, the landowner will surely get the patta if he/she applies for the document.

If any irregularity comes to fore, legal action will be taken against the concerned sub-registrar.

The district collectors have been asked to send a proposal to the State government for RI and Amino posts to provide timely revenue services.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved a new proposal to bring reforms in the revenue department to check massive land fraud.

A notification in this regard will be released soon. As per the decision, anyone can apply for the RoR and other land-related business online.
