Acting on a complaint lodged by family members at Mangalabag police station alleging baby swapping on Sunday, police launched probe into the incident.

The family alleged that the newborn baby boy was swapped with a baby girl at Gynaecology ward of the State’s premier hospital.

According to reports, Madhusmita Mohapatra, wife of Prahallad Mohapatra of Nayak Sahi in Baxi Bazaar area of Cuttack district, was admitted to the Gynaecology ward of the SCB Medical College and Hospital on January 26. She delivered a baby by c-section in the afternoon. Following delivery, the family of Madhusmita was not allowed to the bed allotted to her in the ward.
