Bachan Sudha murder: Accused to be produced before SDJM

After completion of the five- day police remand, Deepti Ranjan Patnaik , the only accused in the murder of city-based businessman’s wife Bachan Sudha Pattanayak, will be produced before the court of the sub divisional judicial magistrate (SDJM) on Monday.

Sources said, police extracted crucial information from him with regard to the suspected involvement of other persons in the murder. During the remand period the police had also conducted psychoanalysis test on him. The report is expected sometime next week.

After analyzing the psychoanalysis report, the police might get the accused on remand for further interrogation and tests, said sources.

Deeptiranjan was brought on a five day police remand on September 18.

So far police have recorded statement of Rajendra Security Agency owner Purna Chandra Mallick, security guard Kanhucharan Nayak, slain Bachan Sudha’s husband Manu Charan and son Rochan Pattanayak. Police have also recorded statements of the victim’s neighbours but failed to get any major breakthrough especially with regard to the suspected involvement of more than one person in the case.
