Baghdad, June 10:
Islamic State chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is said to have been injured in US-led coalition air raids near the Syrian-Iraqi borders, local media reports said.
Al Baghdadi along with other IS commanders was wounded on Thursday, when air raids targeted their hiding places near the Syrian borders, Xinhua news agency reported.
The US-led anti-terror coalition reportedly said it cannot confirm the reports and was apparently waiting for stronger concrete evidence. But the coalition did not deny carrying out airstrikes at that time and place.
Recently the US coalition and its allied rebels on the ground unleashed an offensive against the IS controlled al-Raqqa city and other key strongholds of the group in Syria with the aim of weakening the group. (IANS)
