Puri: Lord Jagannath and His siblings Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra were today escorted to their respective chariots from the Gundicha Temple by servitors in Pahandi ritual during the Bahuda Jatra of the deities in the pilgrim town of Puri.
Lakhs of devotees thronged Puri to witness the return journey of the deities from the Gundicha Temple to the Shree Jagannath Temple.
The atmosphere reverberated with chants of 'Jai Jagannath' by the servitors and devotees as the deities were being taken to their chariots in the ceremonial procession.
After completion of the Pahandi, Gajapati Maharaja Divyasingha Deva performed Chhera Pahanra on the three chariots-- Lord Jagannath's Nandighosh, Lord Balabhadra's Taladhwaja, and Goddess Subhadra's Darpadalana.
Bahuda Jatra holds equal significance like Ratha Jatra as deities proceed towards their abode Srimandir after staying for seven days at their birthplace Gundicha Temple.
