Bail plea of Odisha businessman Mahima Mishra rejected again

Cuttack: A Vacation bench of Orissa High Court today rejected the bail plea of Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Odisha Stevedores Limited (OSL) Mahimananda Mishra in a firing case.

According to sources, the bench comprising of Justice DP Choudhury rejected the bail application filed by the prominent businessman of the state pertaining to the firing incident at Tarini Chhak in Paradip.

As the matter is under investigation and preliminary probe pointed towards his involvement, the court rejected his bail application, sources added.

It may be mentioned here that two persons – Jyotikanta Parida alias Bapu and Ashutosh Swain alias Babu – were injured in a firing incident at the Tarini Chhak in Paradip last year. The duo was rushed to a local hospital in the Port town and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition.

Mahima Mishra was cited as a conspirator in the case registered with Paradip police station. Mishra was charged under sections pertaining to serious offences.

Earlier last month, Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court in Kujang had rejected Mahima Mishra’s bail plea in the said case following which he had moved the High Court.

While the court rejected his bail plea, another bail petition hearing related to an attempt to murder case in 2013 is pending in the court.
