Bhubaneswar: The royal family of Odisha's Balangir has landed in a controversy as Adrija Manjari Singh, wife of Arkesh Narayan Singh Deo, lodged domestic violence and dowry torture complaint against her husband and in-laws.
As per reports, she recently filed the complaint with the Dehradun police. As no action was taken in response to her complaint, she met the Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttarakhand seeking justice.
The case has now been transferred to the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Dehradun.
Local media outlets in Dehradun have reported on Adrija's allegations, stating that she claimed her husband, who is the son of Ananga Udaya Singh Deo, had once attempted to have her killed by hiring a contract killer.
"My husband sought divorce in August of 2022. On 30 September 2022, I filed a complaint at the Rajpur police station against my father-in-law Ananga Udaya Singh Deo, my brother-in-law Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, my mother-in-law Bijayalaxmi Devi, Meghna Rana and my husband Arkesh Narayan Singh Deo. They wanted to remove me from their house. They had stopped my entry to Odisha. I am the daughter-in-law of that family. I do have the rights to stay there," said Adrija.
"They abused me through their staffers. Their guards were monitoring my movement. They also installed a camera which was pointed towards my room. This in an invasion of privacy. I have also lodged a domestic violence case against them," she added.
She has also sought protection citing threat to her life.
Adrija, who is the granddaughter of former Prime Minister Vishwanath Pratap Singh, is currently residing in Uttarakhand with her family members.
On the other hand, Arkesh has refuted the allegations. "The allegations are false. The matter is currently sub-judice in Dehradun Court. I have complete faith on the judiciary. The truth will come to fore soon," he said.
