Balasore police today raided a house in VSS Nagar area of the Odisha capital today in connection with a fraud allegation against Sri Sai Infrastructure firm of Balasore.

Sources said the former deputy drugs controller’s wife was a partner in Sri Sai Infrastructure and she had invested Rs 56 lakh in it.

“In this case cheating to the tune of Rs 10 crore has been committed. Around 35-40 individuals had deposited money with this firm. None of them have been provided with shops or residential spaces for which they had deposited money. He had gone underground. We have arrested him and have forwarded him to court. With the court’s permission, we have conducted raids at three-four places in Balasore. We have also seized Sri Sai popular tower and have informed the court. Now with the court’s permission, we are searching the premises of house no. AL 6 in VSS Nagar. The firm was using this place as its corporate office,” told Amaresh Panda, DSP Balasore speaking to reporters here.
