Shakambhari Navratri or Banashankari Navaratri is dedicated to Goddess Shakambhari. The celebrations begin from Paush Shukla Ashtami and end on Paush Purnima day. Hence, it is also known as Paush Gupt Navratri or Paush Navaratri. Paush Shukla Ashtami is known as Banada Ashtami.

Goddess Shakambari is an incarnation of Devi Bhagwati who took birth as Shakambari to mitigate famine and food crisis on the Earth.

Banada Ashtami 2022 Date: January 10, Monday.

Ashtami Tithi Begins – 11:08 AM on Jan 09, 2022.

Ashtami Tithi Ends – 12:24 PM on Jan 10, 2022.

Banada Ashtami Rituals: The festival is celebrated in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.

Devotees wake up early in the morning and take bath before Sunrise during Gupt Navratri.

The place of worship is cleaned and decorated.

Idol of Goddess Shakti is placed on a red cloth.

Sprinkling of Ganga Jal and lighting of lamp are also part of the ritual.

Devotees recite few mantras and various names of Goddess Durga for 108 times.

After that, they recite Durga Stotra and conclude the Puja with Durga Aarti.

Banada Ashtami Significance: It is believed that devotees who worship the Goddess on this occasion, get significant results, prosperity and fortunes.
