Kamakhyanagar, Apr 11:

Normal life was today paralysed in Kamakhyanagar of Odisha’s Dhenkanal district due to a 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh observed by the councillors of the Notified Area Council (NAC) demanding repair of NH-53 and construction of drainage system.

While vehicular movement was badly affected, shops and business establishments remained closed due to the bandh.

The agitators blocked roads at several places here this morning by burning tyres.

The councillors have been demanding repairing of NH-53 and constriction of roadside drainage channels from Alatoma to Jiridamali here.

“Though the sub-collector and National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) officials had assured us to fulfill our demands, they are yet to act on it for which we resorted to bandh,” said Kamakhyanagar NAC chairman Dharmanand Parida.

Notably, the NAC had earlier observed a bandh on March 25 over the same demands.
