Bandh in Odisha’s Bhadrak over medical college demand

Bhadrak: A 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh is being observed by the District Congress Committee in Odisha’s Bhadrak town today demanding establishment of a medical college here and improvement in healthcare services.

While shops and business establishments remained closed, vehicular movement was disrupted as party leaders and workers staged road blockade at various places in the town.

They also blocked road on NH-16 here, as a result of which hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the road. Several local organisations and associations have also extended support to the bandh call.

Policemen have been deployed across the town to avoid any untoward incident during the bandh.

The party has warned of intensifying the agitation in future in the case of non-fulfillment on the demand.
