Bandh in Odisha’s Dhenkanal, Bhawanipatna paralyses normal life

Bhubaneswar: Bandh observance by BJP and various associations affected normal life in Odisha’s Dhenkanal and Bhawanipatna today.

The saffron party called for a 12-hour bandh in Dhenkanal district demanding fulfillment of four-point charter of demands. Shops and business establishments remained closed in the district in view of the bandh while vehicular movement was hit as BJP workers staged road blockade at several places by burning tyres.

City Hospital status to old hospital, appointment of doctors and nurses at the hospital, implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme and establishment of a police outpost near the hospital are the demands of the agitators.

On the other hand, the Janmamati Surakshya Sangram Samiti is observing a 24-hour bandh in Bhawanipatna demanding permanent land pattas for slum dwellers in the town. Educational institutions and shops were closed due to the bandh observance and vehicular movement came to a grinding halt.

Similarly, another bandh is being observed by the Tusura Nagarika Committee in Tusura and Gubhela of Balangir district demanding upgradation of the Tusura Government Hospital.
