Kendrapara: The Rashtriya Suraksha Manch is observing a 12-hour bandh in Odisha's Kendrapara today, a day after a fiery group clash in the town.
Members of the manch staged road blockade at various places in the town by burning tyres. Vehicular movement came to a grinding halt due to the bandh.
The district administration has announced closure of all educational institutions under Kendrapara Municipality jurisdiction. Internet services in the district has been suspended following tension in the area.
As many as ten platoons of police force have been deployed to prevent untoward incidents during the bandh observance.
Prohibitory order under Section 144 clamped in the town will remain in force till return of normalcy, Kendrapara ADM Basant Rout said.
Sources said, a cultural event was organized at the Kendrapara Government High School Ground in Ward-12 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose yesterday. However, a scuffle ensued between two groups at the spot over the programme arrangements, forcing the police to impose Section 144 in the town.
