Bandh over demand of district status to Odisha’s Rairangpur hits normal life

Rairangpur: A 12-hour bandh is being observed in Bamanghati subdivision of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj today over the demand of according district status to Rairangpur.

The Rairangpur Kriyanusthan Committee had given the bandh call. While shops, business establishments, offices and educational institutions remained closed, vehicular movement was reduced due to the bandh.

Members of the committee were seen picketing at various places. The agitators also staged rail roko at the Rairangpur Railway Station, affecting movement of trains. Emergency services have been excluded from the ambit of the bandh.

Several associations of traders, lawyers, drivers and citizens have extended support to the bandh call.
